The courts are encouraging attorney's and parties to utilize this system to avoid appearing in court. If you are concerned about exposure to the Covid-19 Virus and seek to limit your contacts during your family law proceeding, I have been handling my existing cases by telephone, email and remote telephone appearances with the court. I continue to dedicate myself to getting my client's the best possible outcome for their particular family circumstance given these difficult times.
Over the last several years, I have seen the volume of family law cases explode in all courts. The family law departments in most counties are understaffed and overworked because of the volume of family law cases. Because of the volume of cases waiting to be heard, legal fees have skyrocketed and many people end up spending equity from a home, life savings, 401k's, etc. fighting in a court system that has endless delays.
Many of my clients require full legal representation in their matter, maybe because of custody, support, business valuation, a home or other property is involved or their are pension issues. In these cases, I discuss with my client's if it is worth the expense of litigation to get a desired result. After careful consideration, many of my client's have opted out of expensive litigation and have taken my recommendations to get their case settled rather continue to pay legal fees at an hourly rate that can vary with each case. I always put my client's first.
